Meet Hope Najjar – a born and raised Californian with Chicana and Lebanese roots with  incredible energy and clear vision. Hope is opening Night Hawk Art and Healing Collective in our tiny town of Laytonville, part of the Eel River watershed in rural inland Mendocino County of far northern California. The Night Hawk Collective has goals as lofty as its name sake, and hopes to serve as a community hub, empowering the community through sharing traditional methods of healing and promoting self-care.

This community is on a precipice after over 5 years of historic drought and water crises, concurrent with historic fires (including the Mendocino Complex, the largest fire in California history), ecological fracturing, threatened extinction of our local salmon and collapse of local fisheries, and severe and sudden economic decline due to the third economic boom and bust cycle in the region’s history of extractive industries (in the past few decades we’ve experienced the collapse of the logging, fisheries, and cannabis production industries). Amidst all this, Hope is part of a generation of young folk here working hard to cultivate a community resilient enough to survive the current and future changes we face.

So listen with me, and join the movement for sustainable, enthusiastic, loving, creative culture and community as we traverse through the unknown and unpredictable experience that is our current time.

Coming Home to California

Big News! I’ve returned to the deep woods of Northern California, where my heart of hearts has always resided. My partner, my two dogs, and I have settled near the small town of Laytonville in the interior mountains of Mendocino County, California.

Here we’ve joined a beautiful homestead called Buck Rock, named for the giant monolith looming over our cabins on the hillside above Woodman Creek, a tributary of the Main Fork of the Eel River.

I’m so grateful to the waters, the diverse plant life, the wild animals, and the amazing humans who have welcomed us onto this incredible land.

Now that we’ve settled in, Nine Sisters is actively seeking a new office in Laytonville, so please connect if you know of the perfect spot!  I may also seek satellite locations in Humboldt County as my practice continues to grow.

Please stay tuned for the details on our new physical location. In the mean time, I am available by phone and for local house calls! Additionally, contact me if you have interest in participating in or supporting a low-cost herbal support group. You’d receive tailored herbal and holistic health guidance in a supportive group setting at the fraction of the cost of a one-on-one consultation. Think community acupuncture, but with herbs instead!

I’m thrilled for this new chapter in our adventure with our amazing doggies, my partner Chris, and the family here at Buck Rock, and I look forward to tapping into the beautiful community here in Laytonville, Northern Mendocino, Southern Humboldt, and beyond. Neighbors near and far, please reach out, I’d love to meet you!

Warmly,

Selena
